Timo Scheider

Birth Date: 10 November 1978 Home Town: Lahnstein, Germany
Nationality: German Web: www.timo-scheider.com

Timo Scheider has spent over a decade competing in Germany’s DTM series, twice coming away with the championship.

The German driver began his career in karting in 1989. Six years later he switched to cars, winning the German Formula Renault 1800 title at his first attempt. In 1997 he took three German F3 wins, finishing as runner-up to Nick Heidfeld in the title race.

In 2000 Scheider switched to tin-top racing, beginning his DTM career with Opel. He took a year away in 2005 to compete in the FIA GT championship, winning the Spa 24-Hour race. He also raced for Germany in A1GP before returning to DTM with Audi, going on to take his two titles in 2008 and 2009.

Such has been the success of German drivers in all series in recent years that Timo will now partner namesake Timo Glock for a second German team (or should that be Timo…) in the 2011 ROC Nations Cup.
